Upon request and for regulatory compliance, you can now record and provide an accurate log of your use of laboratory animals with the Exit Log in MiceManager.
What’s new ?
MiceManager already enabled researchers to record the cause of death, supporting data collection for statistical analysis and enhanced animal management. To further align with regulatory requirements, we have now introduced an additional logging feature: the Exit Log.
Exit Log
To comply with legal requirements, it is now possible to define and associate specific exit reasons with causes of death. Consequently, when a researcher records a death—whether experimental, unexpected, or otherwise—the corresponding information is automatically reflected in the Exit Log.
As the Exit Log is designed to fulfill regulatory obligations, exit records cannot be deleted. Instead, they may be cancelled and replaced, ensuring full and compliant traceability of all exit events.
Recognizing that you may use other tools for record-keeping, MiceManager offers on-demand generation of an Excel sheet containing a data signature (HMAC), allowing you to print or copy-paste the information as needed.
Local Caching
With datasets exceeding 15,000 mice, you may have noticed slower load times in the web application. This issue has now been resolved.
MiceManager now leverages local data caching, eliminating the need to repeatedly retrieve static data, resulting in significantly improved performance.

What is the next MiceManager version?
Electronic Cage Label (ECL)
Electronic cage label has been paused to focus on MiceManager Supervisor.

MiceManager Supervisor
MiceManager is currently designed with a focus on researchers. However, animal facilities must also oversee and manage user activity to ensure regulatory compliance and accurately allocate usage costs.
To advance our platform, we are now shifting our focus to developing a new application specifically designed to supervise and manage MiceManager Team instances.
